OUR INTRODUCTION TO WINZ
In 1995 Sheryl (51) and I (54) lived in Lower Hutt. We had been married 4 years. Our only income was the Invalids Benefit. We were struggling financially to make ends meet let alone being able to live with dignity, comfort and security.
Someone mentioned to me about a Special Benefit. I applied for assistance to enable me to drive my wife into Wellington to visit her 93 year old father.
An allowance of $75 a week was granted for all Sheryl's travel needs. About 2 weeks later WINZ (then NZISS) reduced the amount to $38 as a special benefit. The next day another letter arrived from LHNZISS to say that the special benefit had been stopped from that day
A BRC followed which we won. $800 was paid in arrears. I was so incensed at the wickedness of the Lower Hutt branch of NSISS that I immediately bought a portable Brother word processor and began a campaign against the treachery perpetrated upon my wife and I, by NZ Income Support Service.
Our files at the Levin branch of Work and Income NZ now weigh around 200 pounds.
Recently I indicated to WINZ that I did not wish to carry on this conflict. However, just as a leopard cannot change its spots, neither can Work and Income NZ . I also realise that WINZ staff have to obey their masters. That is, they must deny assistance to disadvantaged New Zealanders in any and every way possible - or get the sack.

An unwritten agreement between politicians and some health administrators including G.P's is to keep their mouths shut when confronted by a needy beneficiary enquiring about financial assistance. These well-heeled pillars of society stand condemned by allowing many disadvantaged citizens to struggle with the poverty inflicted upon them unnecessarily. Some play the hypocrite, and mince the truth while pretending to be friendly and helpful.
A beneficiary has few rights within the framework of NZISS' secret policies. This government agency is a law unto itself. Even your local M.P. is limited in his endeavours to give assistance to needy persons. He too, silently agrees with the policies of WINZ to use subtle methods of deception to deny many beneficiaries financial assistance to which they have legal entitlement in accordance to the Social Security ACT of 1964.
A percentage of taxpayers money saved by the NZISS used to pay for all inclusive trips for staff to spend time on the Australian Gold Coast, where they can rest from their labours of orchestrated acts of betrayal, lies, and deception perpertrated upon their unfortunate fellow New Zealanders. Recently a competion was held to see which branch could recover the most money owed to the NZISS by beneficiaries.
BONUSES - SOMETIMES WORTH THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS - WHICH ARE PAID TO SENIOR STAFF EACH YEAR PROBABLY COME FROM MONEY DENIED THE SICK AND THE NEEDY THROUGH TRICKY-DICKY METHODS EMPLOYED BY THE NEW ZEALAND INCOME SUPPORT SERVICE.
Furthermore, the NZISS never submit a full record of an appellent's file to the Social Security Appeal Authority – It omits vital information which would favour the appellant. They also employ lawyers who appear to have no conscience, being openly dishonest in the extreme as many beneficiaries can testify.
